Tips on what to wear

February 5, 2022

Preparing for a photoshoot can be exciting but choosing what to wear on the day can be one of the most time consuming and difficult part of a family photo shoot. But not to worry as I’m here to take away that stress from you and help you choose an outfit that would look good in photos. Whether you choose to wear one that you’ve already got or buy a new outfit, I can help you throughout the process.

When choosing an outfit the following are recommended.

NEUTRALS:

Keep it classic! There’s something classic about keeping it simple with wardrobe. So don’t be afraid of it.

WARM AND EARTH TONES

When it comes to colours, those warmer and muted tones are always a solid pick. Mustard yellow, olive green, browns are always a good pick.

KEEP IT COMPFY!

Wear something that you feel comfortable in, especially because we will be doing prompts with some movement. Also, if you don’t feel comfortable in what you’re wearing, then that’s all you’re thinking about instead of being in the moment with your family.

DRESS FOR THE OCCATION:

We will be shooting your session in the studio, in home or outdoors so dress as casually or formal as you desire, just make sure it blends with your location choice. Mostly just wear something you fee AMAZING in!

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Muted tones
  • Layers and movement
  • Always wear clothing you feel comfortable & confident in.
  • Coordinate clothing with others. Think same tones and complimentary colours.
  • Avoid busy patters. These can be distracting in photos.
  • Think Neutral tones. Vibrant colours reflect lighting and can mess up skin tones in photographs
  • White and pastels photograph beautifully I Strongly recommend for newborns

IN HOME SESSION:

  • Pale neutrals and whites really help accentuate natural light – dark and bold colours will tint the light and leave colour cast on you in camera. Consider swapping coloured bedding and curtains for white or paler colours/neutrals.
